How Often Should You Post on Your Blog?
The common question for new bloggers is "How often should I post on my blog?". Everyone has a different opinion on this question. Some say monthly, others weekly and some swear that posting daily on your blog will bring you the most traffic. So lets break this down. I've researched the best blog practices from some of the top bloggers.
Monthly Blogging - One Post a month. Back in the day, posting one blog post a month was quite sufficient. These days people are looking for solutions to their problems and it comes down to the more information you provide, the more traffic, sales and authority you will bring to your blog. If you choose to write one blog post per month, then it needs to be well researched and have comprehensive information. Usually the average post for a monthly blog post of between 3000 - 4000 words. For most bloggers this is not ideal. Also having only one blog post can make your site look like it has been neglected or abandoned.
Weekly Blogging - One Post a week. Writing a blog post weekly is the beginning of a successful strategy. New visitors to your blog will see new information and your readers will be able to regularly enjoy your information. For most new bloggers, they find that it's getting harder to find new readers. The problem is that every other blog in your niche are blogging weekly too. Everyone blogging weekly means there are there lot blogs competing for the same reader attention. If you publish a post each week , this will keep you ahead of most of the pack for a little while longer. Just a little while though. So start with weekly blogging, but look for a better strategy as soon as you can.
Creating a blog post and content requires work. Some days your ideas flow and you have lots to talk about. However on other days you have nothing. Therefore the days where your creative juices are flowing I find it best to take notes of my ideas and I may write a number of posts, save them in DRAFT and then publish them later in the week. When you are blocked about what to write ...write about how you are feeling. Such as, what you are....

However if you write about a subject or topic that upsets you, write about the subject and do not attack an individual that has upset you. One of the most influential blogs online is Tim Ferriss' blog - The Four Hour Work week. Tim writes 1-2 blog posts per week. Tim's average blog post is 350 words long. He posts are MON, THURS & SAT. The times he posts is 7am and 6pm. This is when he gets best responses; comments, shares and time on the site (readership). He measures this through his Google analytical research.

Daily Blogging: One post every weekday If you want rapid growth, then you need to look at posting daily. Case closed. If you are doing this on your own then its a tough gig. You would need to organised, disciplined, resourceful, and creativity. However with effort comes reward. You want to be working smarter, not necessarily harder. Top blogs are doing 1-2 blog posts per day. Quality content is always in short supply. So write it, outsource it, publish it, and build it to get bigger faster. Daily blogging may not work for you. This is defendant on WHY you are building your blog.
Start Your Blogging Plan
1. Start with a plan Understand what you will write, when you will write it and what you will do when you've run out of things to write about. Make your plan as detailed as possible. This plan is critical to the success of your blog. Don't wing it.
2. Pay attention to your readers Monitor your blog update "unsubscribe" numbers. Consider ramping down your publishing schedule If you see a prolonged spike in unsubscribes. The initial spike is expected but a prolonged increase in unsubscribes means that your audience can't digest the information you're providing.
3. Experiment and Optimize Every audience has a sweet spot where the frequency of posts and post length is balanced and encourages repeat visits and social shares (i.e. retweets, likes, etc.) Everything you've read here are guidelines to get you close to your audience's sweet spot. Experiment on your own to refine your mix. In summary, it depends on what you want from your blog will determine how much time you spend on it. But the main theme is that if you want rapid growth, sales and authority, then you will need to blog daily.
Either you do the writing yourself or you outsource some of your content. Keep the posts to around 300-400 words. Make it interesting, add video and audio if its available and make sure you are enjoying yourself. As soon as it stops being fun...then that it will be the end of your blog. So make sure you know the reason WHY you are blogging in the first place.

It's vital that you let people know that you're available to write. I coach writers, so I know that if a writer tells me that his blog hasn't won him any blog jobs, I know it's because he's hiding the fact that he's available to write for others.
People skim Web pages. They don't think, and they don't know you. Unless you tell them, they have no way of knowing that you're available to write for them - so you must advertise it as much as possible on your blog.
So not only should you have an "About" page which tells people you're available, you need a note in your sidebar, and you should also add a sentence about your availability at the bottom of each blog post.
The sentence can say something like: "Need a blogger? I'm available to blog for you. Contact me for further information."
4. Get readers by joining blog directories
There are dozens of blog directories. Join one or two. They'll help you to become part of the blogosphere, the community of bloggers. Other bloggers will read your blog, and will point you in the direction of blog jobs.

I have been wondering about desserts the last few days. The irresistible charm that these rich combination of ingredients offer is truly amazing. I surely can't seem to stay away from the charisma that pulls me so strongly towards them whichever corner of the room I may be.
I have this friend who is real far from the world of sweets and desserts. In fact, she just doesn't even feel the urge to try out any desserts even at a party once a while. The pains the hostess has taken to create this visual marvel too doesn't move my friend here in any way. Kudos to her!!I guess it is great being like this because then you are not running on the treadmill to loose all those sinful calories nor do you have a weight problem that makes you sulk at times.
Here on the other hand, I have reached the stage of being obsessed with my craving for sweets. Just can't seem to resist all the delicious desserts, ice creams, cakes and cookies that come my way at every gathering. It is hard to say no to a generous helping of such great looking divine delicacies. In fact, they all seem to be inviting me to dig into this sugary world that provides such a wonderful experience.
For me a meal is not complete without a dessert-the more exotic the better -that's the general rule. I believe that these are life's little pleasures and how can you keep away from it just thinking of the calories or the extra pound. The treadmill and the gym is always there. And believe me even with a sweet tooth I do manage to keep a great figure with a combination of a balanced diet and some exercise.
Italian desserts are what particularly catch my fancy and the "tiramisu" to be more specific. The "tiramisu" in Italian means "pick me up" and I guess rightly so considering the absolutely irresistible delight it is. To put it in simple terms, the tiramisu is a layered cake. It is a combination of delicious mouthwatering ingredients like the ladyfingers, mascarpone cream and yes, coffee. The ladyfingers are soaked in coffee combined with liqueur (optional), layered with mascarpone and topped with chocolate.
The origin of the tiramisu is not exactly known as there are several stories that try to explain the birth of the wonderful delight. A slice of this beautiful creation and you are sure to be transported to a new world and then I guess its past does not make any difference , it's only the present and future bite into this creamy creation that you are looking forward to.
The Tiramisu is one of the most popular Italian desserts and its popularity has made it an inseparable part of the Italian cuisine. With several versions of the tiramisu doing the rounds on the internet, this recipe in particular is one that is my favorite. It is my never fail excuse to a visit to the wonderful world of desserts.
Gratitude is many things to many people. It is wonder; it is appreciation; it is looking at the bright side of things; it is abundance; it is thanking someone; it is "counting blessings." It is savoring; it is not taking things for granted; it is present-oriented. The average person often associates gratitude with saying thank you for something they received or a kind gesture. However, gratitude is much broader. I invite you to consider its numerous benefits and how you can regularly incorporate the practice of gratitude in your life.
Practicing gratitude can easily transform the way you think and feel about your life. In fact, it is a tool for happiness that has been causally linked to emotional, relational, and physical benefits. Those who are consistently grateful have been found to be more optimistic and satisfied with their lives, happier, more energetic, more hopeful, more helpful and empathic, more forgiving, and they report experiencing more frequent positive emotions. Furthermore, the more a person is inclined to practice gratitude, the less likely he or she is to be depressed, anxious, fearful, lonely, or jealous and more likely he or she is to experience greater self-worth and self-esteem. Gratitude can also help build social bonds by strengthening existing relationships and nurturing new ones. Not only are there emotional and relational benefits to gratitude, physical health is also elevated through the act of gratitude.
Although we may acknowledge gratitude's many benefits, we have a tendency to focus on the negative and what is NOT working well in our lives. For gratitude to meet its full healing potential, it needs to become more than just a practice we engage in during the season of Thanksgiving. We have to learn a new way of perceiving our circumstances.
When we practice giving thanks for what we have, instead of complaining about what we lack, we give ourselves the opportunity to see all of life as a blessing. Let's now talk about some of the ways in which you can choose to practice gratitude.
Some Ways to Practice Gratitude
1. Keep a gratitude journal and list 3-5 things for which you are currently thankful. From the simple (e.g., colorful fall leaves, a fresh cup of coffee, a warm jacket with matching mittens, etc.) to the exciting (e.g., the kiss your child planted on your cheek while exclaiming that he/she loves you, the colleague at work who genuinely listened to your concerns, getting a full 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep, etc.).
2. Ask your significant other and/or children to be a gratitude partner with whom you can share your list. This way you can discuss your revelations around the dinner table or make it part of your nighttime family routine. Also, your gratitude partner can help prompt and encourage you if you lose motivation to continue your practice or simply forget.
3. Express your gratitude to others for the impact and influence they have made in your life. The expression of gratitude may be particularly effective when done by phone, letter, or face-to-face. Describe in detail what he or she did for you and exactly how it positively impacted your life.
4. Make a gratitude collage. Paste pictures of everything that represents what you are grateful for in your life. Hang it in a location where it is plainly visible for you to see each and every day.
5. When you are feeling down and having a difficult time seeing the good in your life, make a gratitude list instead. You will be amazed by how much better you feel right at that moment.
Regardless of which gratitude strategy you choose to implement, select a time of day when you have a few minutes to step outside your busy life and reflect. For some working moms this is first thing in the morning before the children are awake, during their lunch break at work, or the last thing in the evening before falling asleep.
At some point in your life, you have probably been told to engage in your gratitude practice every day. However, I would encourage you to rethink this. If you count your blessings each day and in the exact same way, you may get bored, view your practice as a chore, and extract less meaning from it. As such once a week works great, which is great news for us busy working moms!
As you practice gratitude, you will notice an inner shift begin to occur. You will delight in discovering how content, hopeful, and fulfilled you feel. That, my friends, is gratitude at work. It is life-changing.
